So throughout November last year I set myself a challenge to paint a study of a street view scene from Google Earth every day of November for 1 hour a day. I missed 3 days due to being too busy with other work but managed to complete 28 of them so not a bad effort.

I would recommend painting studies for practice, it really helps your observation skills and the ability to break down complicated scenes into simple shapes. It also really helped me in choosing my colour pallets in my own paintings and experimenting with interesting light/shadow formations.
